There is a detailed parts list of all the components needed to finish construction with manufacturers part numbers thats made available to purchasers. So what do you need to build a Costin, although all the parts can be bought off the shelf one of the most economical routes would be to aquire a donor Rover MGF, this car yields nearly 80% of the parts you need to construct the car. An alternative Engine Transmission could be the Honda VTEC as we have sourced rear hubs to accomodate the Honda driveshafts. MGF Parts K Series Engine, Gearbox, Driveshafts. Rear Hubs, Discs, Calipers. Gear Linkage, Handbrake Linkage. Wiring Loom, Instrument Panel, ECU's column stalks. Complete List Here Accident dameged MGF's can be picked up for under a £1000 pounds.
The Build The Costin Roadster was originally designed as a production car, since its original design new components have come onto the market and we have utilised these in the construction. Whilst this is not a kit car in the sense of "fit bolt number 19 into hole number 3" type construction with a comprehensive build manual we believe its well within the capabilities of most car enthusiasts to construct, we would be happy to discuss the construction with prospective purchasers and give an honest opinion of the work involved. We estimate a car can be constructed on a budget of £10k based on a MGF donor route included in the price. Finished Product We will be offering a turnkey solution to clients, but I think its important to stress that even a self build car will be badged as a genuine Costin not a replica or a kit car, provided you use the original body, chassis and suspension and stay within the design boundaries, you will have a piece of motoring history, most Costins find there way onto the race track, Frank Costin was involved in the design of some very significant cars, Vanwall, Lotus, Lister Jaguar, March, Maserati and DTV. There is a direct relationship between this car and the iconic cars mentioned above. Costin Race Team Opportunity We would be interested in discussing the opportunity of supplying a Body and chassis unit to a recognised race outfit. It would be on the basis that they would campaign the vehicle and we would receive advertising etc, in return we would support the car with cost price components etc.
