If you want your website to be found by people browsing the Internet looking for your type of products (similar to a shop’s passing trade) then this is probably the most important (and usually most overlooked) topic. It is essential that the site is submitted to all the major search engines with the appropriate description, key words etc and that the site itself is
constructed in a way amenable to being found and indexed by search engines’ spiders.
This can incur some costs (e.g. if you subscribe to a service such as Microsoft’s Submit-It product) and requires regular attention, at least on a monthly basis.
